Presbytery Assembly Review

As I write this message, I can say with complete honesty, the Presbytery Assembly was a bit of a whirlwind!

I was sitting at the nametag table, so I finally got to meet some of these names that I see every Thurs-day in the God Calls Newsletter. I’m not going to lie, I felt a bit like a Rock and Roll groupie finally getting to hang with the band.

After the opening prayer and welcome, the first thing we did was a Bible Study with Sister Pat. The theme of the meeting was “Who is my neighbor?” We talked about how our neighbors locally, as well as Globally. I am happy to announce that I was able to talk about how we meet both of those categories in this church.

Next, our very own Sandy Carlson got up and talked about Who exactly is my neighbor. I connected very much with what she said, and I thought that it co-existed with my sermon from April 29th.

Then we got to hear an amazing sermon from Alex Long who is the pastor at FPC in Arlington Heights.

Following communion, we went downstairs for lunch. Everyone seemed to love our set up and it looked beautiful. Thank you so much to everyone that made it possible.

When we got back from lunch, we listened to an inspiration story from the Flora Mission Committee and got to vote on a grant for the Valparaiso Mission Committee.

Then, we got to do one of my favorite things! We voted to move an Inquirer to a Candidate! Congratulations Will Reinowski! Blessings to you as you finish your process and continue on toward your first call!

We ended the day by honoring leaders that were retiring and thanked them for their faithful service.

As I said at the start of this, it was very much a whirlwind experience, but I am so glad that I got to attend and I can’t wait for next time!

Thank you all for allowing me the opportunity to attend.
Anne Lute,
Elder Commissioner
