Ways To Help

This page will provide you with information on a variety of ways to assist the church and community.  Be sure to check back frequently, as new opportunities will be added often!

Salvation Army Food of the Month

February's Salvation Army Foods of the Month are Canned Meals, Ravioli, beef stew or other good deals.

Become a Bible Buddy

Every member of the Congregation has the opportunity to be a Bible Buddy! The new Bibles purchased for every Youth and Lighthouse child cost between $15 and $20 for a single copy.  A contribution of any amount to help underwrite the total cost is most appreciated, and acknowledges you as a Bible Buddy to all of the recipients.  Please submit your gift to the Church Office.

Greeters and Ushers are always needed.

If you would like to usher, please see Penny Russell.

If you would like to be a greeter, sign the chart on the bulletin board or see Kathy Flavin-Chance.

Chancel Flowers

Please consider sponsoring the Chancel Flowers on any Sunday during the year. The cost is $35.00. Not only are you helping to beautify the sanctuary for our Sunday service, but you are also honoring or memorializing a loved one or a special event in your life. Please sign the Flower Chart. Thank you.

Join the Chancel Choir

We welcome anyone who wishes to praise and worship God through song to join the Chancel Choir! Rehearsals are every Thursday at 6:30 PM.

Saturday Morning Soup Kitchen

The Soup Kitchen is running out of supplies! We are low on meat products and fruits, vegetables, jelly and instant potatoes. If you can help in supplying any of these items, it would be greatly appreciated.

Presbyterian Women Children's Book Drive

Will you help us fill the Book Box? Some of the pre-school books the Amy Arnt Circle has collected for the Sand Castle Shelter. The Shelter, a Michigan City temporary home for LaPorte County homeless children and their families, is asking for new and “gently used” books for children under age six.

According to Tom Isakson, shelter director, “This year, over 60 children, including over 30 (ages 0-5), will use Sand Castle.” Tom goes on to say, “Many of the adults served there were not reared in a household that promoted education, so encouraging these parents to read to their little ones nightly is so important.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the books that you loved reading to your children or grandchildren could now help a homeless child learn to read! The shelter allows families to keep their favorite books as they move into their own homes.

Amy Arnt Circle asks that you place your donated books in the box (made for her circle by Patty Schaefer) on the table in the Edith Boyd Lounge. If you have any questions, please call Betty Locke or Connie McKeague.

Join the Prayer Chain

The Prayer Chain consists of members that are sincerely willing to pray for you. Your prayer requests will be handled with discretion, and are not published in the church bulletin. Also, if you wish to join the prayer chain, please contact the Moderator of the Deacons, Kim Huffman.
